My name is Aaron Barone and I’m a 27 year old professional poker player. Originally from Santa Rosa, California, poker has allowed me to travel all over the world and I now live in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
I’ve been playing poker professionally for the better part of the past five years, only taking an eight month hiatus to find out that law school wasn’t for me. In that time, I’ve worked tirelessly to improve my game and am now considered one of the best low/mid stakes SNG players in the world. In 2008, I was offered a position on PokerVT as a SNG Coach/Instructor and have been making informative (and hopefully entertaining) videos for the past four years.
Like many, I started out in weekly home games with friends, and week after week I noticed a disturbing pattern — the same guy would win. A combination of competitive fire, jealousy, and pride led me to seek out ‘winning poker strategy,’ and I stumbled upon several online forums and recommended literature. I soaked up as much information as I could, and soon enough, I was the one taking my friends’ money. To the chagrin of my parents, I deposited $100 online and promised them if I lost the money, I’d never deposit again. I quickly discovered single-table tournaments and never looked back.
